| Abstract: | Your Excellencies, Right Honourable Prime Minister, Prime Minister, Premiers, Chief Ministers, Ministers, Ladies and Gentlemen: It is a pleasure and an honour for me to welcome you on behalf of the Government and People of Trinidad and Tobago to the Opening Ceremony of the Fifth Conference of Heads of Government of Commonwealth Caribbean countries. This is the second occasion on which Trinidad and Tobago is host to such a Conference. From the humble beginning in July 1963, when the Prime Ministers of Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, and the Premiers of Barbados and British Guiana met in Port of Spain, this conference has now become an institution truly representative of all Commonwealth Caribbean Countries, inclusive of Belize and the Bahamas. |
