Title: The Aims And Objects Of Human Right’s Year – TV Address By The Prime Minister Friday April 26, 1968
Author Williams, Eric Eustace,
Abstract: Human or Fundamental Rights is the modern name for what was formerly known as “natural rights”. The struggle for the recognition and protection of these rights goes far back into history. These rights were conceived of as something to which every human being everywhere is entitled by virtue of the simple fact of being human and rational. The idea has been immortalized in the French Declaration of the Rights of Man propounded at the time of the French Revolution and in the American Declaration of Independence whose signatories affirmed the following truths to be self-evident –
That all men are created equal;
That they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights;
That among these rights are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
