| Abstract: | Fellow Citizens: My message on this the twelfth anniversary of our Independence comes to you from Point Fortin where the Cabinet has met to take part in the flag-raising ceremony associated with the Government’s purchase of the former Shell holdings in Trinidad. The year that has just ended has been marked, as in the world at large, by three main problems: energy, food, inflation. The weather conditions which we have been facing for a little over two weeks constitute a further local problem for us. I shall first of all deal with the so-called storm and the resultant floods. |
