Author Williams, Eric Eustace,
Abstract: You have freely chosen the career or the profession of t eaching. Some would deem it a calling. Career or calling it is only fitting that you should expect the importance of the work you will be doing to be given due recognition, respect and recompense. You have your Union to look after this aspect of life for you. But it is more important for you to have before you all the time the idea of service – the quality
of the service that you will be offering to the community, your dedication to this service, and your determination to continue to put all your talents and training at the disposal of society. This is what society expects of you, and what you should expect of yourselves.

“In short, on you falls the heavy burden of helping to produce a healthy, happy, stable, democratic society with all the fundamental human rights and freedoms that every single human individual person is entitled to?”
