| Abstract: | I think it is very appropriate that at this time the Institute of International Relations of the University of the West Indies, assisted by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, should be sponsoring this Seminar on the Foreign Policies of Caribbean States. For we in the Caribbean today stand at the threshold of a most exciting and far-reaching experiment in regional economic co-operation. We are also faced with the traditional extern.al pressures which have long characterised the Caribbean scene and which are now becoming more acute with the possible entry of Britain into the European Economic Community. |
