Title: Education and Decolonisation Part 1 of 2 – Address by Dr. Eric Williams, Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago to the Caribbean Union Conference, Maracas on  August 29th, 1974
Author Williams, Eric Eustace,
Abstract: It was the same with British rule in India , where Lord Macaulay, in demanding university education in India on the British pattern, Arrogantly dismissed the whole native literature of India and Arabia as inferior to a single shelf of a good European library. It was the same in Hait with the United States military occupation in 1916, when every effort was made to replace the French bias inherited from the colonial period , however absurd and inadequate it was, by the American system, however superior it was in its relevance to Haiti’s basic needs.
