| Abstract: | [DR. THE RT. HON. E. E. WILLIAMS] As hon. Members are aware, the Aliens (Landholding) Ordinance also applies to securities and other financial liabilities of locally-owned corporations. Under the amendment before us this morning the acquisition of securities in locally-owned corporations by all foreigners will be brought under the surveillance of the Government in order to ensure that the national interest is effectively secured. This surveillance now applies only to certain types of foreigners, and Government are of the view that the existing methods of surveillance should be applied equally and equitably to all non-nationals. |
